Teacup Chihuahua Puppies in Tennessee: What Buyers Should Know Before Paying a Deposit

My name is Marisol, and I’ve been raising Chihuahuas on our 12 acres in rural West Tennessee since 2005. It all started with one tiny dog named Dreamer – a teacup apple-head Chihuahua who came from a caged environment and absolutely stole my heart. Watching her bloom into a confident, loving companion in a real home environment is what inspired everything I do at Dreamer’s Pups. I wanted to give every Chihuahua I brought into the world that same foundation.

If you’re searching for teacup Chihuahua puppies in Tennessee, I wrote this guide for you. Not as fine print – as a genuine conversation between a breeder who cares and a buyer who wants to get this right. Choosing a trusted Chihuahua breeder in Tennessee means doing your homework before you fall in love with a photo, and I’m going to make that homework as easy as possible for you.

What “Teacup” Actually Means – And What I’ll Tell You Honestly

Let me start with the word everyone searches for and nobody fully explains: teacup.

“Teacup” is not an official breed classification. The American Kennel Club recognizes one Chihuahua – just Chihuahua. What “teacup” describes in common usage is a very small Chihuahua, typically 3 pounds or under at full adult size. My own inspiration, Dreamer, was a teacup apple-head – petite, delicate, and full of enormous personality. I completely understand the appeal.

Here is what I can honestly offer you when it comes to size: parent weights and the size history of previous litters from the same pairing. That gives you a realistic range to plan around. What I won’t do is guarantee a specific adult weight, because genetics simply don’t work that way – and any breeder who promises you an exact number is either guessing or telling you what you want to hear.

My advice if size is important to you: tell me upfront. I’ll walk you through our smallest parent pairings and what their litters have produced historically. A puppy who reaches 4 pounds instead of 2.5 is still a tiny, wonderful dog. But I want your expectations set correctly from the start so your love for your Chihuahua is unconditional – not contingent on a size that was never guaranteed.

How Our Puppies Are Raised: Why the Home Environment Matters

Our Chihuahuas don’t live in kennels or cages. They live in our home.

From their very first days, Dreamer’s Pups puppies are surrounded by people – including children. They hear household sounds, feel human hands, learn that strangers can be trusted, and develop the outgoing, affectionate temperaments our breed is famous for. That early socialization shapes a puppy’s personality for life, and it genuinely cannot be replicated after the fact.

I raise both longhaired and shorthaired Chihuahuas, and over more than 20 years I’ve selected very deliberately for temperament. I want puppies that are sweet, curious, and loving. I also maintain genetic diversity by working with lines from multiple states – because a healthy, well-rounded breeding program produces healthier, happier dogs.

When you ask me about a specific puppy, I won’t just describe what they look like. I’ll tell you who they are. The one who sprints to greet you. The one who loves to be held. The one who’s a little reserved at first but becomes your shadow once she trusts you. This kind of matching – personality to lifestyle – is something I take seriously with every placement. Size might start the search, but the right temperament is what makes the relationship.

How the Deposit Works – Please Read This Before You Pay

I want to be completely transparent here, because sending money to anyone you’ve only spoken with online takes real trust, and I don’t take that lightly.

A deposit reserves your chosen puppy. The amount is either $350 or 30% of the full purchase price – I’ll tell you which applies when we discuss your puppy. Paying the deposit means you’ve accepted the terms of our adoption agreement, so I always encourage buyers to read it fully first and bring me any questions before sending anything. That’s not me deflecting – that’s me genuinely wanting you to understand what you’re agreeing to.

Deposits are non-refundable, with one important exception: if a qualifying veterinary-diagnosed health issue is identified in your puppy, I will offer either a full refund or a transfer to another available puppy of equal value.

You’ll also see a NuVet Plus requirement in the adoption agreement. NuVet is a veterinarian-formulated immune support supplement I recommend for new puppies during their transition to a new home. Maintaining your puppy on NuVet Plus is a condition of the health guarantee (except in states where this type of requirement is prohibited by law). I include it because I’ve seen what it does for puppies – it’s not a trick buried in the fine print.

My strong recommendation: read the full agreement, write your questions down, and bring them to our conversation before you pay a cent. I would rather spend an hour answering questions upfront than have confusion or disappointment after your puppy comes home.

Understanding the Health Guarantee: What It Covers and What It Doesn’t

Every puppy from Dreamer’s Pups comes with a one-year congenital health guarantee, and I want to explain exactly what that means – no vague reassurances, just clear information.

A congenital condition is one a puppy is born with: a genetic or developmental issue that was present before they ever left our home. If a licensed veterinarian diagnoses your puppy with a life-threatening congenital condition within one year of your adoption date, I will provide a replacement puppy of equal value.

What the guarantee does not cover: illness caused by environmental factors, accidents, parasites acquired after pickup, or conditions that develop later due to diet, injury, or care choices. That’s not me protecting myself at your expense – it’s me being honest about what I can actually stand behind as a breeder.

Here is what I ask of you: take your puppy to a vet for a wellness check within 72 hours of bringing them home. Keep those records. If you ever have a concern about your puppy’s health, reach out to me first – I offer 24-hour emergency support after every adoption because I genuinely care about how our puppies are doing after they leave us. Keep your adoption agreement somewhere you can find it, and document any written communication that relates to your puppy’s health. The more organized you are from day one, the smoother things go if questions ever come up.

Confirming Availability – And Protecting Yourself From Scams

Puppy scams are real, they’re heartbreaking, and they have made the entire process of buying a dog online harder to navigate. I want to help you stay safe – whether you’re working with me or anyone else.

Our available teacup Chihuahua puppies page is regularly updated with current listings, photos, and videos. Puppies are organized into categories: Boy Puppies, Girl Puppies, Premium Unique Puppies (our highest tier), and Rescue Rate/Retirees. But don’t rely on a category heading or an older video alone – availability changes quickly. Always confirm directly with me that the specific puppy you’ve chosen is still available before sending a deposit.

Before any money changes hands, I strongly recommend a live video call. You should see your puppy moving. You should see our property. You should see me. A seller who can’t or won’t do live video of the actual puppy is a red flag – full stop. Keep screenshots of the listing, copies of your messages, and your payment receipt together in one place. These protect you.

For an additional layer of protection, I also recommend reviewing how to avoid online puppy scams before any online puppy purchase. It’s a practical checklist I stand behind completely.

Dreamer’s Pups has been operating since 2005. We have real history, real reviews, and real families who have come back for second and third puppies. If anything ever feels off in an interaction with me or any other seller, trust your gut and ask more questions before sending a payment.

Delivery Options: Getting Your Puppy Home Safely

One of the things I’m genuinely proud of at Dreamer’s Pups is how much flexibility we offer when it comes to delivery. I know not everyone can make the drive to rural West Tennessee, and I want your puppy’s arrival to be as smooth and joyful as possible.

In-person pickup is always available by appointment at our property. This is a wonderful option if you’d like to see where your puppy was raised before taking them home.

Doorstep delivery means I drive your puppy directly to you. The cost is $0.85 per mile, calculated from our location to your door. For families within a reasonable drive, this is often the most personal and stress-free option.

Meeting arrangements are available in select locations. Nashville, Corinth, and Florence are current meet points, offered for a flat fee of $99.

Flight nanny service is available for out-of-state buyers. A professional nanny accompanies your puppy on a commercial flight in the cabin – never in cargo – so your puppy arrives calm and cared for. The cost includes the flight ticket plus a $99 coordination fee.

Before you finalize your budget, please confirm the exact delivery cost with me based on your location and your preferred method. I want you to have accurate numbers well before pickup day.

Ready to Find Your Chihuahua? Let’s Talk.

Dreamer’s Pups is a family operation built on more than two decades of dedication to this breed. Every puppy we place is a match I’ve thought through carefully – because my goal isn’t just to find a home for a puppy. It’s to find the right home.

If you’ve read this far, you’re exactly the kind of buyer I love working with: thoughtful, prepared, and excited about doing this right. I’d love to answer your questions, walk you through our current available puppies, and help you figure out whether one of our dogs is the right fit for your family and lifestyle.

Start that conversation with a teacup Chihuahua breeder in Tennessee who has been doing this with heart since 2005 – and come ready with your questions. That’s always the best place to begin.
